Our History
Quasar was born out of the 2008 Global Financial Crisis. Former JP Morgan Chase’s top producer, Kenneth Brown, founded the company [along with Metropolitan Funding Group] in anticipation of the market distress that would emerge from what became the Subprime Mortgage Crisis.
Mr. Brown utilized the Quasar platform to acquire distressed assets for a private group of stakeholders and delivered them exceptional returns. Witnessing the platform’s growth, Mr. Brown subsequently broadened Quasar’s services and capital partnerships.
Today, Quasar has strategically evolved to extend its services on a global scale.
Timeline
In 1993, Mr. Brown attained a job as a loan officer at Chase Manhattan Mortgage (“JP Morgan Chase”).
Even though JP Morgan Chase was not hiring at the time, Mr. Brown called management daily until they employed him.
A good loan officer, at the time, closed 6-7 transactions a month. Mr. Brown closed 70-80 transactions monthly.
Brown was one of the most profitable originators, pricing transactions averaging 175 basis points above par when most originators were pricing 50 basis points below par.
In anticipation of the changing market, Mr. Brown retired from JP Morgan Chase [at 40 years old] in February 2008.
Brown founded the Quasar platform to acquire and manage real assets that succumbed to the 2008 real estate market crash.
In 2024, Mr. Brown repositioned Quasar to offer their services globally.
